The company strives to become one of the best organisations of its kind, serving clients in Nigeria and across the globe. Here, we find out more about Datametrics Associates Limited and its work in the wake of its success in the MEA Business Awards 2023. Having registered with Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in June 2014, Datametrics Associates Limited officially commenced business in 2018. It was established to fulfil the prominent need for a company that provides exceptional research and evaluation services to the world’s governmental and non-governmental organisations, supporting the successful implementation of social interventions. The organisation was set up to serve as an external evaluation and research partner to their donor-funded operations, generating evidence for learning, impact, and value. Initially, the work undertaken by Datametrics Associates Limited focused primarily on the evaluation of health interventions, including water sanitation and hygiene, nutrition, and protection projects in humanitarian emergencies. Since then, the organisation’s work has diversified, now involving the use of quantitative and qualitative methodologies to evaluate other areas of intervention. This includes projects centred around maternal adolescent infant and young child nutrition, agriculture, education, youth empowerment, vaccination, rural resilience activity, and school feeding programmes. In the last few years, Datametrics Associates Limited has been working with several nongovernmental organisations, supporting them in carrying out baseline, midline, and endline surveys. The company has also provided them with capacity building solutions in project monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, and research. Currently, its clients include organisations such as International Medical Corps, MercyCorps, World Bank, RTI International, and more. As part of one of its recent projects, Datametrics Associates Limited’s Technical Director led the implementation research on the Basic Package of Nutrition Services (BPNS) and Adolescent Health Service (AHS) in Kaduna for the World Bank’s Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) project. By collecting data through desk review, analysis of secondary data, and quantitative and qualitative interviews, Datametrics Associates Limited explored the appropriateness and relevance of the project’s implementation design. It assessed the community- and facility-based interventions, their involved activities, and the acceptability of their end results, taking into account various contextual factors like poverty, geography, remoteness, religious beliefs, and cultural beliefs. Currently, data analysis and report writing for this study are ongoing. Another project carried out by Datametrics Associates Limited involved conducting a quantitative baseline evaluation of the FHI360 Alive & Thrive Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) project in the Nigerian states of Bauchi, Borno, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, Sokoto, and Yobe. For each of these states, the organisation carried out extensive household mapping and listing. It was also responsible for various aspects of creating the questionnaire, including its review, finalisation, local language translation, pretesting, and electronic programming. Once this was complete, Datametrics Associates Limited administered the questionnaires to 2,100 mothers of children aged between 0 and 24 months. Following data collection, the company submitted a cleaned-up version of the household listing and baseline data, as well as supporting the development of the research report. In everything it does, Datametrics Associates Limited operates with five key missions. Firstly, through its evaluative work, the company aims to generate evidence that drives organisations’ business processes and informs their decisions.
