African Excellence Awards 2023 Best Textile Manufacturer 2023 - Ethiopia Created as a means to improve Ethiopia’s global textile chain in 2015, JP Textile Ethiopia began production in 2017 in the hopes that it could forge a green approach towards the industry. Eight years later, JP Textile Ethiopia has partnerships with the likes of H&M and JCP, with an annual output of 15 million yards of yarndyed fabrics. We explore how it manages to accomplish such a feat, all whilst protecting our environment in the process. Since it started bulk production in October 2017, JP Textile Ethiopia has been consistently raising the bar when it comes to producing yard-dyed fabrics. Not only has it accumulated an astonishing rate of work that has allowed it to reach annual capacity levels within the millions, but it’s done so with an unwavering devotion to its primary green initiative. In the present day, JP Textile Ethiopia is still avidly working towards building the foundations for a green textile enterprise, utilising advanced equipment and technology within a ZLD plant in order to take steps towards completing this goal. Now holding partnerships with some of the leading textile brands throughout the world, JP Textile Ethiopia has proven that its method and approach towards constructing the enterprise has moved closer and closer towards success. Its main customers, including PVH, JCP, The Children’s Place, H&M, Centric Brands, and United Legwear, are each able to play a role in supporting JP Textile Ethiopia’s dream, granting it the chance to continuously work towards a better future for the textile industry. However, none of this would be possible without the core values that shape JP Textile Ethiopia’s internal structure. By adhering to enterprising, excellence, and efficiency, it’s been able to hone its craft in a multitude of ways – from promoting unity to encouraging an overarching sense of enthusiasm throughout its staff roster. The result is a textile enterprise that never struggles to achieve greatness, and does so whilst constantly growing and improving in every aspect. In 2022 alone, JP Textile Ethiopia was at the forefront of exporting textiles on a global scale. It managed to export almost 7 million yards of yarn-dyed fabrics, amounting to a whopping $12,842,678.76, which accounted for a rough estimate of 7% of Ethiopian national textile exports. Not only does this showcase just how far the company has some since its recent inception, but it gives us a better understanding of just how huge its impact has been on both a national and international scale. Whilst making a large contribution to Ethiopian national exports, JP Textile Ethiopia has also made its worth known in terms of economic development. This manifests, not only through the revenue that it has accumulated through its tireless processes, but through the jobs that it creates for the surrounding communities. Since its establishment, it’s created more than 800 jobs for the local area, and goes out of its way to ensure the health and wellbeing of its staff by providing free meals during work hours. As a result, productivity and enthusiasm is increased on a monumental scale. Of course, whilst annual revenue can act as the be all end all for most companies, JP Textile Ethiopia is aiming a little higher than the feats it’s already accomplished. Its overarching mission is to build a first-class large scale green manufacturing base in Africa, and it’s not once let up in its pace towards achieving this goal. Despite the struggles posed by the recent state of our global economy, JP Textile Ethiopia has remained steadfast in its beliefs. Though there may be cost-effective alternatives to a variety of approaches, JP Textile Ethiopia is only interested in deploying methods that are beneficial to our environment. It’s this devotion to green, sustainable production that truly sets JP Textile Ethiopia apart from other textile enterprises within Africa. It uses a Zero Liquid Discharge treatment plant, and is therefore capable of recycling and reusing any water wastage caused by its processes. As a result, it’s continuously utilising what it already has instead of taking what it doesn’t need, all in the hopes that it can start spearheading the pursuit of change within the industry. Sustainability has never been more crucial, and JP Textile Ethiopia is at the forefront of raising awareness of this. With such a keen eye for the future, and its nature to keep looking ahead, JP Textile Ethiopia has a multitude of plans that it seeks to bring to fruition in the near future. By adapting itself and its passionate workforce, all whilst adhering to its commitment to sustainability and green practises, JP Textile Ethiopia is undoubtedly geared towards meeting its plans and then some, and we can’t wait to see how it expends as a collective.
